Year 10 ‘Good Man Award’ Programme

All Y10 students are involved in the ‘Good Man Award’ programme. The programme encourages our Y10s to recognise and reflect the values of the school, including participation across the school and community.

Community service is a significant aspect of the programme. Every Y10 core class participates in a community service project, supported by the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council. 10TA will undertake community service on Monday, 07 June, 1:10 – 3:10 pm. Permission slips have been sent home with the boys. The teacher responsible is Mrs K Taylor, Senior Master, ktaylor@nbhs.school.nz

Level 3 Agriculture Fieldtrip

The Level 3 Agriculture class is in Waikato from 07 – 09 June. The group spend time at New Zealand’s leading thoroughbred nursery, Waikato Stud and the Fieldays. The teacher in charge is Mr R Newman rnewman@nbhs.school.nz

Goal-Setting Update

Tutor teachers have begun contacting senior students’ parents/caregivers to update them on their son’s progress toward the goals that they collectively set in Term One. Contact may be by phone or email.

A reminder that parents/caregivers can access results and historical reports through the KAMAR Parent Portal. Log-in details were posted by mail at the start of the school year. NZCT Chamber Music Contest

Our musicians are involved in the regional contest Tuesday 15 – Wednesday, 16 June held at the Municipal Theatre.

Rockquest Regional Final

‘The Grapefruit Smugglers’ are performing in the regional final on Saturday, 12 June starting at 7:00 pm. This is at the Municipal Theatre.

Hawke’s Bay Secondary Schools Golf Tournament

The golf team will defend their title on Friday, 18 June. The tournament is held at Hawke’s Bay Golf Club.

New Zealand Secondary Schools Cross Country

Building on some successful results across the juniors the cross-country team will compete in the NZSS championship on Saturday, 19 June in Hawera.

Super 8 Schools Rugby

The 1st & 2nd XV host the home derby versus Hastings Boys’ High School on Saturday, 19 June. Updates are posted on the Tribe Sports App. To watch the action live you can subscribe to the streaming service, Sideline.Live: https://sideline.live/schools/east-coast-hawkes-bay/napier-boys-high-school This is a home fixture. The 2nd XV kick-off at 10:30 am and 1st XV at 12:00 pm.

Sideline.Live has been streaming Super 8 Schools rugby for several years. They have expanded their coverage to include the Super 8 Schools tournaments for other codes. This year they will be streaming hockey, basketball and football. This is a subscription service. My Action Replay Clubs

Old boy and ex-Head Prefect Scinde House, Erin Walshe, from My Action Replay Clubs, has gifted the school a streaming unit for Term 3. A non-subscription provider, the streaming service is aimed at community sport.

We will be streaming different codes and teams, with permission from the opposing school, over the remainder of Term 3.
