Attendance – The Impact on NCEA

As we move through the school year, we want to reinforce the crucial link between attendance and academic success, particularly when it comes to NCEA.
We understand family holidays are important but taking them during the term time can significantly impact your young man’s learning and NCEA Credits. Our statistics clearly show that attendance below 80% dramatically increases the likelihood of failing NCEA. To put this into perspective, just one day off a week equates to 20% of their learning time lost.
Every day at school counts, and we need our young men present and engaged to reach their full potential. If you need to discuss your son’s attendance or the implications of time away from school, please reach out to his dean in the first instance. They are there to support you and your young man.
