Week Ahead: Week 7 Term 4
Monday 20th November – Sunday 26th November
Junior Examination Timetable
The Y9 & Y10 Term 4 examinations are in Week 7, Wednesday 22 – Friday 24 November.
Note that Y9 examinations commence Thursday, 23 November. Y9s have normal timetabled classes on Wednesday. Teachers have distributed exam outlines. Your son should be using this to prepare for their exam.
When we speak to the Y9 & Y10s we talk about the purpose of the junior exams. Namely, this is to prepare them for the senior school, and for them to take some ownership around their preparation. Understanding what study programme works best, how to manage their time in an exam and the value of applying themselves over the course of the school year are all important ‘takeaways’.

NCEA Examinations – Reminder
The NCEA examinations continue in Week 7, finishing Thursday 30 November. The 2023 National Secondary Examination Timetable can be found here.
Please support us to ensure that your son arrives at C Block, the exam centre, prepared. They require their writing equipment in a transparent plastic bag, their admission slip and if required water in a ‘clear’ drink bottle.
Admission slips can be reprinted. Your son will need to reprint this from their NZQA account. This can be accessed here. Your son will require their NSN number to access his NZQA account. If your son cannot access their account, they must report to C4 30 minutes before their scheduled examination.
Students are reminded that phones should be turned off before an examination. If a phone makes a noise during the examination, this is considered a breach of the rules and could affect your son’s overall grade.
If your son is unwell on the day of the examination, please contact Mr Bundle gbundle@nbhs.school.nz to request a derived grade form.
Tertiary Study in 2024
If your son is moving on to tertiary study in 2024, they should check their eligibility for fees-free study. They can do this here: www.feesfree.govt.nz
Applying for student loans and allowances needs to be done before 16 December. Enrolment is via Study Link www.studylink.govt.nz
