PPTA Strike Action: Rostering Home
As indicated last week, the rostering home plan for students in Year 9-13 continues in Week 3.
This will affect Year 12 students on Tuesday, 09 May and Year 13 students on Thursday, 11 May. Day boys in these year groups are required to stay home.
The school will be closed for teaching on Wednesday, 10 May. If your son is under 14yo and requires supervision onsite through school hours, please contact Mr D Russell, Senior Master, drussell@nbhs.school.nz
Industrial action could be halted if the PPTA decide that sufficient progress is being made with negotiations. We will advise you if there are any changes.
Hosts wanted
Napier Boys’ High School are recruiting hosts for our new international students, arriving July 2023. We are looking for hosts to accommodate and care for new students from Germany, France, Hong Kong, Japan and Denmark.
Hosting is a rewarding and fulfilling experience where you will make worldwide, lifelong connections. Hosts can be families, single people or couples. We offer remuneration to cover student costs; $265 per week in 2023 and $280 in 2024.

Uniform Shop
A reminder that uniform, including rugby/football items, can only be purchased from the school uniform shop during opening hours.
The Uniform Shop is open Tuesday after school, 3 – 4.30pm, and Thursday lunch, 1:10 -2:10pm, for new and second-hand uniform purchases.
The shop is situated at the front of the school opposite the visitor car park – signs are placed out when it is open.
Uniform prices are on the webpage if required. Payment can be made directly at the shop when purchasing items, or prepaid onto school accounts.
NZ Super 8 Schools Cultural Festival
We travel to the NZ Super 8 Schools Cultural Festival hosted by Rotorua Boys’ High School, Wednesday 10 – Friday 12 May. This is a fantastic opportunity for our boys and the wider Super 8 Schools Group. Our participants include:

Y9 Option Changeover
Y9s change options on Monday,15 May. Y9s will be reminded of their upcoming Trimester 2 option. If students have not already purchased their Art or Graphics material via Office Products, they are reminded to do this. An updated digital timetable will be available through the MyMahi app.
L1 Geography Trip
The L1 Geography classes are offsite Tuesday, 09 May visiting Villa Maria Winery. This is part of their AS1.3 assessment, investigating how commercial organisations implement sustainable practice.
Y9 & 10 Quiz Night
We host junior students from Napier Girls’ High School on Thursday, 11 May for our annual quiz night. This is a fun and entertaining programme running 6:30 – 8:30pm.
